James Roger Pertl

James Roger Pertl, age 74 of St. Charles, Missouri, passed away Friday, July 20, 2012 at Mount Carmel Senior Living in St. Charles, Missouri.
Born February 5, 1938 in Fenton, Iowa, he was the son of Walter A. and Dolores (Smith) Pertl.
On November 19, 1966 in St. Charles, Missouri, he married Gwendolin Peavler who survives.
Also surviving are two step-daughters, Janet R. Hackemack and husband Larry of La Belle, Missouri, and Jean Mackey and husband Joe of Pekin, Illinois; one sister, Ginger Hanson and husband Glen of Iowa City, Iowa; three step-grandchildren, Thad Chaney, Tiffany Cascia, and Dana Simmons; ten step great grandchildren; one aunt, Helen Thiesfield of Wisconsin; two nieces, Stacey and Liz of Michigan; and two nephews, Josh and J. of Iowa City, Iowa.
Jim was a 1956 graduate of Fenton High School. He served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1959. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Officiating will be Pastor Sheila Swafford. Burial with full military honors will be in the La Plata Cemetery, La Plata, Missouri.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 22, 2012 with the family receiving friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Travis Funeral Chapel.
