Dorothy Jean Jenkins

Dorothy Jean Jenkins, age 76 of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at her home.
Born July 23, 1935 in La Plata, Missouri, she was the daughter of William Dwight and Theo Marguerite (Fetters) Gragg. On March 31, 1967 in La Plata, she married Clark Jenkins who preceded her in death on April 20, 1995.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, and one infant son, Alan Hale Pedler.
Surviving are two sons, Roy Dean Magruder of Higbee, Missouri and Todd Magruder of La Plata, Missouri; two daughters, Barbara Rash of Kirksville, Missouri and Cristel Bruce and husband Joey of Higbee, Missouri; six grandchildren, April Rash, Joe Rash, Kiesha White, Jo Sullivan, Sarah Beth Magruder, and Cheryl Hartwig; fourteen grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Dorothy Jean lived most all of her life in La Plata. She was a 1953 graduate of La Plata High School and a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in La Plata. She worked at Hollister Inc. in Kirksville for twenty-two years before retiring. Dorothy Jean enjoyed camping, line dancing, crocheting, her dogs, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012 at the Community Presbyterian Church in La Plata. Officiating will be the Reverend John Becker. Organist Sarah Beth Fouch, guitarist Taylor Eaton, and soloist Jenna Eaton Hayes, will provide the music.
Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dennis Hendren, Scott Groseclose, Matthew Bruce, Robert Caldwell, Darrin Bingham, Scott Morris, Chris Chapman, and Bob Couch.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 21, 2012 with the family receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
Services are under the direction of Travis Funeral Chapel, La Plata, Missouri.
