Wretha Marie Winlker

Wretha Marie Winkler, age 87 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Monday, February 27, 2012 at the La Plata Nursing Home in La Plata, Missouri.
Born September 8, 1924 in Bucklin, Missouri, she was the daughter of Jewett W. and Lola Belle (Carter) Webber. On June 16, 1945 in Clarence, Missouri she married William Winkler who preceded her in death on March 21, 1996.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; two sisters, Deloma Fuqua and Irene Davison; and a half-brother, Gilbert Harden.
Surviving is one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Helen Winkler of Montgomery, Illinois; one daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Rick Taylor of La Plata; one sister, Lorene Ratliff of Edmond, Oklahoma; one half-brother, Jack Webber of Napa, California; eight grandchildren, Becky Lehr, Steven Lehr, Eric Winkler, Nicole Christian, Travis Winkler, Kristen Watts, Laura Vose and Travis Taylor; and five great grandchildren, Ethen, Seth and Cole Winkler, Lizzy Lehr and Kylie Beck.
Marie was a 1942 graduate of Elmer High School. During WWII she worked in an ammunition factory in Illinois, and later in Warrenville, Illinois she worked as a beautician. In 1986 Marie moved to La Plata where she was a member of the La Plata Christian Church. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, crocheting, oil painting, dancing, watching movies, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the La Plata Christian Church. Officiating will be the Reverend Jeremy Lobdell. Music will be provided by Janis Mitten, organist and Sally Morris, vocalist, playing and singing “The Old Rugged Cross”.
Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matt Christian, Travis Winkler, Eric Winkler, Jarrett Belfield, Gary Pyle, and Bill Tiedemann. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Ratliff and Randy Fuqua.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 29, 2012 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri.
