Anna LoRraine Wempner
July 20, 1912 - January 31, 2012
Anna LoRraine (Triggs ) Wempner, age 99, passed peacefully from this life on January 31, 2012, in Lee's Summit, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J. Homer and Minnie (Chadwick) Johnson; son, Wilbur Dale Wright and daughter-in-law, Judy Wright; husbands, Morris Wright, Orville Triggs and Walter Wempner; step greatgrandson, Anthony Barnes; sisters, Willie Johnson, Miltie Gupton and Jodie Cobb.
LoRraine is survived by two step children, David and Betty Triggs; three grandsons, Randy, Terry and Chris Wright; great grandchildren, Jennifer, Matthew, Kandy, Jacob, Guynevere, Adaline, Nikki and Kayla; and neices, Sheryl (Gupton) Perry and Katy (Gupton) Tisdale.
La Plata, Missouri was the place of LoRraine's birth on July 20, 1912. There she grew up and graduated from La Plata High School. She was later united in marriage to Morris Wright, and to this union one son, Wilbur Dale, was born. They resided in Kansas City, Missouri. Later, she was united in marriage to Orville Triggs. The couple resided in Oak Grove, Missouri, where they owned and operated the town newspaper, The Oak Grove Banner. LoRraine did some of the writing and much of the managing of the advertising aspect for the paper. Her name was mentioned along with husband, Orville's, in the University of Missouri School of Journalism texts, for having developed a new linotype process. Upon their retirement, the Triggs moved back to La Plata, where they joined the Methodist Church, and enjoyed being back in LoRraine's hometown. They also spent many happy winters near Brownsville, Texas, keeping their residence in La Plata. Upon Mr. Trigg's death, Lo Rraine continued to spend winters in Texas, and there she met and married Walter Wempner with whom she spent many more happy years in retirement.
LoRraine was much beloved by family and all the caretakers at the John Knox village Care Center, where she spent the last 9 years of her life.
Graveside services, under the direction of Travis Funeral Chapel, will be officiated by Reverend Stan East at the La Plata Cemetery, La Plata, Missouri on Tuesday, February 7 at 1:00 p.m.
