Eula B. Hawkins, age 100 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2011 at the La Plata Nursing Home in La Plata, Missouri.

Born October 18, 1910 near Ethel, Missouri, she was the daughter of Harley W. and Maude B. (Ross) Hawkins.

Surviving are three sisters-in-law, Ruth Hawkins of La Plata, Missouri, Coleen Hawkins of La Plata, Missouri, and Theta Bell Hawkins of Erin, Tennessee; twelve nieces and nephews, Cosette Povlovich and husband Joe of Erin Tennessee, Mick Hawkins and wife Carolyn of Marceline, Missouri, Steve Hawkins and wife Mindy of Dexter, Missouri, Janis Mitten and husband Tom of La Plata, Missouri, Beth Mason and husband Jerry of Columbia, Missouri, Jim Hawkins and wife Marge of Anderson, California, Keith Hawkins and wife Joan of Federal Way, Washington, Wes Hawkins and wife Michele of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Judy Ross and husband Rex of La Plata, Missouri, Martha Rhein and husband John of Columbia, Missouri, Donna Agee and husband Wayne of Neodesha, Kansas, and Glen Hawkins and wife Janet of Wichita, Kansas; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; six brothers, Oral, Noel, Harold, Hugh, Harley Jr. and Eugene Hawkins; three sisters-in-law, Dora Hawkins, Lola Mae Hawkins, and Helen Hawkins; two great nieces and one great nephew.

Eula was a graduate of Elmer High School and Truman State University. She taught in rural schools, Elmer Elementary School, and La Plata Elementary School retiring in 1976. She was a member of the Elmer Christian Church and attended the La Plata Christian Church.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Travis Funeral Chapel. Officiating will be Brother Richard Castle. Music will be provided by Sara Beth Fouch, organist. Musical selections are “What A Friend We Have In Jesus” and “In The Garden”.

Burial will be in Bunce Cemetery, west of Elmer, Missouri. Pallbearers will be her nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 27, 2011 with the family receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Travis Funeral Chapel.
