Mary Jane "Janie" Bowen

Mary Jane Bowen, age 69 of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2011 at her daughter’s home in Buckner, Missouri.
Born January 22, 1942 in Kirksville, Missouri, she was the daughter of Henry Harrison and Mary Lee (Ingraham) Ruddell. On June 11, 1960 in La Plata, Missouri she was united in marriage to Robert Dale Bowen who survives.
Also surviving is one daughter and son-in-law, Mendi and Dean Parsons of Buckner, Missouri; one sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Terry Parsons of Independence, Missouri; two grandchildren, Amanda Arnold and husband Justin and Shane Parsons both of Buckner, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents and one sister Marjorie Cooley.
Janie was a 1959 graduate of La Plata High School and was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in La Plata. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and living on the farm.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at the La Plata Cemetery in La Plata, Missouri. Officiating will be Pastor Terry Davison. Justin Arnold will sing “Amazing Grace”. Pallbearers will be Shayne Parsons, Justin Arnold, Donald Dore, Troy Parsons, Terry Parsons, and Todd Parsons.
Services are under the direction of Travis Funeral Chapel, La Plata, Missouri.
Memorials in her memory may be made to the First Baptist Church of Buckner, Missouri and may be mailed to or left at Travis Funeral Chapel 125 S. Church St., La Plata, Missouri.
