Bruce D. Naughton
April 20, 1963 - January 4, 2011
Bruce D. Naughton, age 47 of Overland Park, Kansas, and formerly of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the St. Lukes Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
Born April 20, 1963 in Kirksville, Missouri, he was the son of James E. and Marie (Burdett) Naughton.
Survivors include his grandmother, Thelma Jo Christy of Macon, Missouri; mother, Marie Collum of La Plata, Missouri; one daughter, Audrey Nicole Naughton of Shawnee, Kansas; one brother, Kent Naughton and wife Teresa of Ames, Iowa; two step-brothers, David Collum and wife Beth of Stockton, Missouri and Steve Collum and wife Dana of Springfield, Missouri; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Preceding him in death was his father, James E. Naughton and step-father, John J. Collum.
Bruce was a 1981 graduate of La Plata High School and a 1985 graduate of Truman State University with a B.A. in Geology. He was an Eagle Scout, a vigil member of the Order of the Arrow, and a long-time scout leader. Bruce had been living in the Kansas City area for several years where he was employed by DST Systems, Inc. He was a member of the Blue Springs Lodge #337 A.F. & A.M., Ararat Shrine Temple, and the Community Presbyterian Church of La Plata, Missouri. Bruce enjoyed family vacations, Kansas City Chiefs Football, and southern rock music concerts.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the Community Presbyterian Church of La Plata.
Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, January 7, 2011 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata.
Memorials in memory of Bruce D. Naughton may be made to the Community Presbyterian Church of La Plata or to the Ararat Shrine Temple.
