Carletta Maxine Carmack

Carletta Maxine Carmack, age 79 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Monday, July 19, 2010 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.
Born February 3, 1931 in Sullivan County, Missouri, she was the daughter of Webster “Mac” and Elsie Opal (Long) Harden. In the spring of 1947 she married Donald G. Carmack who preceded her in death on May 1, 1957.
Also preceding her in death were her parents and one sister.
Surviving are two sons, Paul Carmack of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Jim Carmack of La Plata, Missouri; two daughters, Donna Spruill and husband Gilbert of Chesapeake, Virginia and Kay “Charlie” Devitt of Canyon Lake, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Doneta Harden of La Plata, Missouri; one sister, Barbara Harden of La Plata, Missouri; five grandchildren, Jason Carmack, Cindy Spruill, Lori Hardy, Michael Carmack and Julia Spruill; five great grandchildren, one niece and two nephews.
Carletta moved to La Plata in 1957 from Winigan, Missouri. She was employed at Hollisters Inc. for 33 years, retiring in 1996. Carletta enjoyed traveling, gardening, making candy, spending her winters in Texas and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Winigan Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2010 at the Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Officiating will be Pastor Elmer “Mac” McCully.
Burial will be in the Winigan Cemetery at Winigan, Missouri.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 21, 2010 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata.
