Bennie H. Slaughter

Bennie H. Slaughter, age 94 of LaPlata, Missouri, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010 at the LaPlata Nursing Home in LaPlata, Missouri.
Born March 23, 1916 in Gifford, Missouri, he was the son of Jacob B. and Nora E. (Wood) Slaughter. On February 25, 1937 he married Deloma M. Keithley who preceded him in death on October 5, 2009.
Also preceding in death were his parents; one son, Billy Slaughter; one daughter-in-law, Wilma Slaughter; one son-in-law, Jim Lene; one grandson, Tony Ray Lene; five brothers, Roxie, Joe, George, Howard and Donald Slaughter; and two sisters, Isabelle Crout and Rosie Waddill.
Surviving are two daughters, Sandra Lene of Wichita, Kansas and Marylin Mosley of Dallas, Texas; one son, Marvin Dale Slaughter of Kirksville, Missouri; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Slaughter of Macon, Missouri; eleven grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, and thirty great-great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bennie lived and farmed all of his life west of Gifford, Missouri before moving to LaPlata in 1980.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2010 at the Travis Funeral Chapel in LaPlata, Missouri. Officiating will be Pastor Elmer “Mac” McCully.
Burial will be in the Indian Hill Cemetery north of Gifford, Missouri.
Visitation will be Friday, April 30, 2010 with the family receiving friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
