Gary Eugene Biggs

Gary Eugene Biggs, age 69, of Mesa, Arizona passed away Monday December 20, 2010 at Banner Baywood Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona.
Born January 16, 1941 in Kirksville, Missouri, he was the son of Harold M. and Virginia (Daniels) Biggs. On August 20, 1961 he was united in marriage with Margaret Anne Harrison at the Community Presbyterian Church in La Plata, Missouri.
Surviving is his wife Margaret; his mother Virginia Biggs of La Plata, Missouri; three sons and daughters-in-law Scot & Gina of Tempe, Arizona., Darrin and Linda of Chandler, Arizona., and Todd and Dawn of Mesa, Arizona; one sister and brother-in-law Carol and Richard Pemberton of Marshall, Missouri; one brother and sister-in-law Bob and Lodena Biggs of La Plata, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Nicholas Biggs, Christopher Flaherty, Harlie Ann Biggs, Todd Ellis Biggs, Diamond Biggs, Sabrina Mitchell, Brittany Lukey, Janina Ingersall and Leah Mitchell; one uncle Willford Biggs of Las Vegas, Nevada; one aunt Doris Gilbo of Tempe, Arizona; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father Harold M. Biggs, infant twin brother Larry and infant sister Farol; and his grandparents Lon and May Daniels, and Marion and Sarah Biggs.
Gary was a 1959 graduate of La Plata High School and attended Northeast Missouri State Teachers College and the University of Missouri. He majored in Agriculture, and while attending was a member of an award winning Army R.O.T.C. Drill Team. Gary was a member of the La Plata Lodge No. 237 AF & AM, Manilla Iowa Presbyterian Church, and the East Valley Real Estate Association. Gary was very active in the American Legion Riders of Post 138 in Phoenix and Scottsdale where he served as Chaplain, and was also a Patriot Guard Rider.
Funeral services will be 11: 00 a.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri, officiating will be the Reverend John Becker. Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his sons Scot Biggs, Darrin Biggs, Todd Biggs, and grandsons Nicholas Biggs, Todd Ellis Biggs and Christopher Flaherty. Gary’s brother Bob Biggs will lead the Casket. Honorary Pallbearers are Richard Pemberton, Tom Pemberton, Timothy Pemberton, Garret Albright and Brian Nentwig. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 29, 2010 from 9:00-11:00 a.m.
