Donna Lynn Seibold

Donna Lynn Seibold, age 90 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2020 at the La Plata Nursing Home in La Plata, Missouri.
Born September 7, 1929 in South Gifford, Missouri, the daughter of James and Lucille (Love) Shumaker. On December 21, 1946 in Stockton, California, she was united in marriage to Duane Lawrence Seibold who preceded her in death on January 19, 2019.
Also preceding her in death are her parents; one daughter, Melody Bechtle; one brother, Neil Shumaker; and one niece.
Surviving are one son-in-law, Dan Bechtle of Hamilton, New Jersey; one granddaughter, Marisa Bechtle; one great grandson, Lee Ashley Bechtle; one niece, Judy DeCuir (Ralph); and six cousins, Cheryl Lock, Greg Love, Richard Buck, Randy Love, Ron Tuttle, and Michael Keast.
Donna was a member of the Ann Haynes Chapter of the DAR in Kirksville, Missouri. She was very proud of being an Alaskan homesteader with her husband. She was an Extra Class Amateur License Holder, a member of American Radio Relay League and NEMO Amateur Radio Club. Donna loved nature, was an avid gardener and gifted artist. She loved her family.
Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2020 in the Chariton Grove Cemetery, west of La Plata, Missouri. Officiating will be Cheryl Lock. Pallbearers will be Greg Love, Chris Fleak, Drew Lock, Zachary Fleak, Jason Wood, and Andrew Fleak.
Memorials in memory of Donna may be made to the Gifford Christian Church. They may be sent to or left at Travis Funeral Chapel, 125 S. Church St., La Plata, MO 63549.

We are sorry that current circumstances prevent us from coming out.
Donna was a caring person who always made people welcome. She was born during the Great Depression; was a teenager during WWII. She married Buddy at a young age, and some time after the Korean war they homesteaded in Alaska while raising Melody under modest conditions. She was always optimistic no matter where she and Buddy moved to. She always looked forward to when Melody and I visited or when they drove out to New Jersey to visit. I remember Donna’s recent great joy at meeting her 6-month-old great-grandson, Lee, last April. It was only 2 months after losing Buddy. Their marriage of over 70 years through joy and occasional frustration sets a standard that few can equal. Her greatest sorrow, and mine and Marisa’s, was losing her beloved daughter, Melody, in 2016. Melody and I were married over 41 years and kept in touch by phone nearly every week.
I would like to thank Cheryl Lock for helping Donna in so many ways since Buddy died.
