Don E. Wood, age 55 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
Born March 21, 1963 in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of Earl L. and Betty J. (Haggy) Wood.
Surviving are two daughters, Ashley Lee Wood and Anna Mae Wood, both of Des Moines, Iowa; mother, Betty Wood of La Plata, Missouri; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Twyla and Willard Yardley of Jefferson City, Missouri and Lisa and Robert Caldwell of La Plata, Missouri.
His father, Earl L. Wood preceded him in death.
Don was a 1981 graduate of La Plata High School. He lived in Des Moines, Iowa for several years before moving back to La Plata three years ago. Don enjoyed golfing, NASCAR, fishing and hunting, and loved spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 19, 2018 with the family receiving friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Travis Funeral Chapel.

Dear Betty, Lisa, Twyla and family....
I'm so so sorry to hear this loss but didn't hear about it till time of service.... Please know how sorry I am and my heart is broken.
Know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers..... Lisa when things are settled after the first of the week would you PLEASE call me!!!!!... Love you guys and know he's in a better place... easier said than done I know!!!
