She was also preceded in death by her parents and five younger siblings: Clarence Jr. (Helen) Maxwell; Marjorie (Jack) Davis; Barbara (Addison) Hombs; Ted (Sunny) Maxwell; Darrell Maxwell and son-in-law, Franklin Gregory Fisk.
Surviving are three children: Kay Fisk, Kalamazoo, MI; Lee (Linda) Moots, La Plata, MO; Sue (James) Lindley, Haden, ID. Eight grandchildren: Karla (Phil) Simpson, New York, NY; Kevin Fisk, Kalamazoo, MI; Kirsten (Doug) Monson, Holt, MI; Todd (Danielle) Lindley, Salem, OR; Molly (J.R.) Tuggle, La Plata, MO; Sydney (Jamie) Henson, Englewood, FL; Eric (Stacy) Moots, Kirksville, MO; Matthew (Debbie) Lindley, Tempe, AZ. Ten great grandchildren: Rodney Tuggle, Gracie Roberts, Donnie Henson, Oli Aiden, Elizabeth Moots, Caroline Moots, Jane Ann Moots, Abigale Lindley, Emma Lindley, and James Lindley. One great-great granddaughter: Venna Roberts, and many nieces and nephews.
Enid was a graduate of Kirksville High School and attended Northeast Missouri Teachers College (now Truman State University). She taught at East Center, a one room rural school in Adair County, for two years until her marriage. Following marriage, Marvin and Enid lived on a farm south of Kirksville in the Illinois Bend community during the Great Depression of the 1930's. Their first three years of marriage included drought, crop failure, and eggs selling for 5 cents a dozen. In 1947, they bought a farm on Old Highway 63 south of La Plata.
The family was active in the La Plata Christian Church where Enid served as a Sunday school teacher. Enid loved the farm, and was the extra farm hand when Marvin needed help. She enjoyed raising chickens and gardening, but her priority was caring for her children, nieces, nephews and grandchildren who came to the Moots farm during summer months. Playing and working with the kids was more important than a spotless house.
In 1974, Enid drew plans to build a house set in a wooded area where the family picnicked when the children were young. She continued to live in this home after Marvin's death until one month before her 101st birthday. During the last years of her life, she enjoyed getting to know the other residents and staff while living at the La Plata Nursing Home.
Enid liked to read, write, cook family dinners, play with great grandchildren and drive her little red car. She was an active member of La Plata Christian Church, Chapter BF PEO, La Plata Garden Club, and Home Circle Club.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 21, 2018 with the family receiving friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, MO. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 2018 at the La Plata Christian Church.

My thoughts and prayers are with Enid’s family. She taught me a lot about cooking and baking when I was in 4-H and I will cherish those memories forever and always.
