Anita Louise Powell

Anita Louise Powell, age 82 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Friday, March 20, 2020 at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
Born October 25, 1937 in Atlanta, Georgia, the daughter of William and Louise (Vining) Tallent. On June 29, 1957 in Miami, Florida she was united in marriage to Ernest “Red” Powell who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Jay Powell of Columbia, Missouri and Mark Powell of La Plata, Missouri; one daughter, Renita Noel of La Plata, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Tim Powell, Rachel Powell, Rebecca Lovingier, Tyler Powell, Chelsea Powell, Jeana Curtis, Josh Noel, and Jeffrey Noel; and several great grandchildren.
Her parents and brother, Russell Tallent preceded her in death.
Anita moved to the Elmer and La Plata communities from Florida in 1977. She was a faithful member of the Atlanta Baptist Church. Anita was an avid Jeff Gordon racecar fan. She also enjoyed bowling, shopping, visiting with everyone, and loved spending time with her family.
Private graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2020 at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri under the direction of Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri.
