Lloyd Allen Cribb, formerly from La Plata, Missouri passed away in his home in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 89 on Monday; February 15, 2016.

Lloyd was born January 7, 1927 in La Plata, Missouri. He was the oldest son of Ernest and Grace (Nihiser) Cribb. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of sixty-six years. He was united in marriage to Betty C. McElhinney on September 18, 1949 in her parents’ home near Kirksville, Missouri.

Three children surviving are: Brenda Waters and husband Ed of Springfield; Neil Cribb and wife Susan of Camarillo, California; and Sheila Falls of Springfield. Also surviving are: one brother, George Cribb and wife Jo of Kirksville; one sister, Phyllis Birkinshaw of La Plata; eight grandchildren, Natalie Mounts and husband Bradley of Springfield; Brent Waters of Chicago, Illinois; Josh Waters and wife Sarah of Chicago, Erin Schmidt and husband Derek of Overland Park, Kansas; Valarie Grossman and husband Steve of Camarillo, California; Emily Cribb of Raleigh, North Carolina; Nicholas Falls of Springfield; and Heather Mulligan and husband Adam of Springfield. They were blessed with seven great grandchildren: Ty and Jake Schmidt; Aubrey, Hudson, and Blair Mounts; Samuel Waters; and Hailey Mulligan. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Lloyd’s parents and three sisters: Arlene McInturff, Eva Hall and Dorothy Welte preceded him in death.

Lloyd lived most of his life in the La Plata community. He was a 1944 graduate of La Plata High School and later served in the United States Army Air Corps from 1944 to 1947. He was a member of the La Plata Community Presbyterian Church and belonged to the Beaux & Belles Square Dance Club. After his retirement from the farm, they moved to La Plata and then in 2013 moved to Springfield where he attended the Park Crest Baptist Church. Lloyd loved the farm, tractor pulls, camping, traveling which included 49 states in the US and driving the Alcan Highway to Alaska, and spending time with his family.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2016 at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri, with visitation at 1:00 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Elmer “Mac” McCully with Pastor Phillip Housley assisting. Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Bradley Mounts, Nicholas Falls, Brent Waters, Adam Mulligan, Josh Waters and Derek Schmidt. Burial with military honors will be in the La Plata Cemetery.
