Larry C. Bragg, age 77, of Kirksville, MO passed away Sunday, July 7, 2013, at La Plata, MO.

He was born January 20, 1936 in Kirksville, to Elvin Curtis and Mary Louise (Shouse) Bragg.

He was married on May 29, 1955 to Shirley Odette Easley, who preceded him in death.
On December 28, 1996, he married Martha Ellen Vogel of Lineville, IA, who survives.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Shirley, his brother, James Winston Bragg of La Plata, his great-grandson, Kinnick Tyler Vogel of Bettendorf, IA, and his son-in-law, Gary Harrison of Plano, TX.

Surviving are 8 children and stepchildren, Brenda Harrison of Plano, TX, Mike Bragg and wife Mindy of Columbia, MO, Sherri Fransen and husband Mark of High Ridge, MO, Barbara Schreurs and husband Shawn of Centennial, CO, Brad Vogel and wife Joni of Lineville, IA, Lori Jones and husband Keith of Wesley Chapel, FL, Kent Vogel and wife Pam of Lineville, IA; and Troy Vogel and wife Dena of Sterling, CO; 18 grandchildren, Tabitha Abraham, Melissa Bragg, Laura Hall, Melanie Hunt, Amanda Jacobs, Deborah Jones, Nathanael Jones, Timothy Jones, Tyson Schreurs, Zachary Schreurs, Monica Sessions, Braden Vogel, Junior Vogel, Kiana Vogel, Kody Vogel, Kole Vogel, Mason Vogel, and Misty Jo Vogel; 11 great-grandchildren, Daphne Hall, Phoebe Hall, Garrett Hunt, Makenna Hunt, Garrison Jacobs, Brinley Schreurs, Brooke Schreurs, Kaden Schreurs, TJ Schreurs, Zane Sessions, and Wyatt Vogel; one sister, Phyllis Belt of Macon, 3 sisters-in-law, Lois Bragg of La Plata, Betty Macklin of Macon, and Louine Green of Olathe, KS.

Larry graduated from La Plata High School in 1954, and was particularly proud of having played football throughout school. He worked with his father at the Bragg Food Mart in La Plata and in road construction after high school. He owned a trucking business before entering a management career in 1960. Larry managed grain elevators in Ewing, Sumner, and Kirksville, MO, and in Lineville, Leon, and Humeston, IA. He retired from MFA, Inc., in 1998. After retirement he enjoyed driving part-time for Bangert Trucking of La Plata.

Larry had a lifelong passion for horses, which was surpassed only by his love of his family and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed introducing the youngest members of his family to horses as soon as they could sit atop the saddle, and those memories will be among the most cherished for all of them.

Larry enjoyed traveling with Martha, and he never lost his love of driving. They spent many hours on the road to be with their large family.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2013 at Travis Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MO. Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 11, 2013 with the family receiving friends from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, MO.

Memorials may be made to the Illinois Bend Community Church or the La Plata Nursing Home Activity Fund. They may be sent to or left at Travis Funeral Chapel, 125 S. Church St., La Plata, MO. 63549.
