Doris Marie McMorris
February 23, 1930 - February 24, 2016
Doris Marie McMorris, age 86 of La Plata, Missouri and formerly of Vandalia, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at the La Plata Nursing Home in La Plata, Missouri.
Born February 23, 1930 in Havana, Illinois, she was the daughter of Grover Cleveland and Pearl Lena (Sanders) Liesman.
Surviving are four sons, Steven McMorris and wife Carol of Bowling Green, Missouri, Randy McMorris of Auxvasse, Missouri, Jim McMorris and wife Deanna of Vandalia, Missouri, and Gary McMorris and fiancée Shannon of Beaumont, Texas; two daughters, Barbara Magers of La Plata, Missouri and Brenda Nutt and husband Carl of Vandalia, Missouri; three sisters, Gladys Steinhour, twin sister, Dorothy Talkington, and Lois Stuart; seventeen grandchildren, Andrea Thurman, Phillip Jennings, Michael Jennings, Sarah Magers, Jeannie Stuckey, Robbie McMorris, Jessie McMorris, Katie McMorris, Becky Nutt, Courtney Vaughn, Jordan McMorris, Cheyanne McMorris, Chase McMorris, Hayli McMorris, Taylor McMorris, Bryce McMorris, and Lathyn McMorris; and several great grandchildren.
Her parents, two sons, Mark and David McMorris, one granddaughter, Robin McMorris, four brothers, and one sister preceded her in death.
Doris lived most of her life in Vandalia, Missouri where she was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vandalia, Missouri. Officiating will be Pastor Kenneth Schamber.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the church with the family receiving friends from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Inurnment will be in the Vandalia Cemetery at a later date.
