Charles Laverne Pinkston

Charles Laverne Pinkston, age 85 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2015 at his home.
Born September 17, 1930 in Gibbs, Missouri, he was the son of Charles Eppy and Naomi Ethel (Krieger) Pinkston. On December 23, 1950 in Kirksville, Missouri he was united in marriage to Nadine Scott who survives.
Also surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Dorene Pinkston of Moberly, Missouri and Lonnie and Lori Pinkston of La Plata, Missouri; one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Owen Rafferty of Decatur City, Iowa; five grandchildren, Eric, Dane, and Cameron Pinkston, Tara Bowman, and Laryn Pinkston; seven great grandchildren, Mati and Barrett Pinkston, Brett, Landen, and Ashland Bowman, Carmen McLain, and Eva Pinkston; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, one brother Paul Pinkston, and two sisters Lucille Ross and Neva Moore preceded him in death.
Charles was a 1948 graduate of Hurdland High School. Most of his life was spent on his farm southeast of La Plata, Missouri. He had been employed with Banquet Foods and later with Wal-Mart in Kirksville, Missouri until his retirement. Charles loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Officiating will be Pastor David Gottman. Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 28, 2015 with the family receiving friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Travis Funeral Chapel.
