Lillie Mae Mathes

Lillie Mae (Curtis) Mathes, age 75, of La Plata, Missouri passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri. Born February 12, 1939 in Adair County, Missouri, she was the daughter of Ray and Madge (Tuttle) Curtis.
Preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Travis Mathes; four brothers, Harlen, Junior, Leon and Wendell Curtis; and one sister, Aline Young.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Sandra Mathes of Macon, Missouri; one brother and sister-in-law Jack and Veva Curtis of Ewing, Missouri; one sister, Wilma Chipman of Ewing, Missouri; four grandchildren, Alexandra, Bubba, Jimmy and Zachary Mathes; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mae was a graduate of Kirksville High School. She owned and operated a beauty salon in La Plata for many years. She was a member of the La Plata Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. in Kirksville. Mae enjoyed quilting and spending time with her family.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Officiating will be Pastor David Gottman.
Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gail Curtis, Joe Curtis, Todd Eitel, Jeff Curtis, Frank Curtis, and Jeremy Curtis.
Visitation will be Friday, May 9, 2014 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata.
