Genevieve Perry, age 90 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011, at the La Plata Nursing Home in La Plata, Missouri.

Born April 2, 1921 in Kirksville, Missouri, she was the daughter of Charles Ezra and Lottie (Graves) Combs. On May 28, 1943 in Kirksville, Missouri she married Fredrick Perry who preceded her in death on December 8, 1989.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; one son, A.C. Perry; two brothers, Cyrus and George Combs; and two grandchildren, Roby Bulen and Shelly Watson.

Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Keith Algers of Keokuk, Iowa, Lucille and Ralph Bulen of New Cambria, Missouri, Judy and Russell Watson of Gibbs, Missouri, and Janice and Michael Stitzer of Kirksville, Missouri; one brother, James Combs of La Plata, Missouri; five grandchildren, Debbie Rowlan, Michael and Jeffery Alger, and Michael and Jim Stitzer; and twelve great grandchildren.

Genevieve lived most all of her life in Adair, Knox, and Macon Counties. She was a graduate of La Plata High School and later was employed for many years at the Shoe Factory in Kirksville, Missouri. Genevieve enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball, playing cards, and especially spending time with her family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in La Plata, Missouri.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in La Plata, Missouri. Officiating will be Pastor Elmer “Mac” McCully. Music will be provided by Deanna Clevenger, organist and Melvin Bissey, soloist. Musical selections will be “In The Garden”, “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Amazing Grace”.

Burial will be in the Gibbs Union Cemetery in Gibbs, Missouri. Pallbearers will be Jim Stitzer, Michael Alger, Jeffery Alger, and Terry Rowlan.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in La Plata with the family receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Memorials in memory of Genevieve Perry may be made to Gibbs Union Cemetery. They may be sent to or left at Travis Funeral Chapel, 125 S. Church St., La Plata, Missouri 63549.
