James Robert Moore

James Robert Moore, age 64 of rural Atlanta, Missouri, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2010 at his home.
Born on September 15, 1945 in Kirksville, Missouri, he was the son of William Jelma and Gladys Evalyn (Ham) Moore.

Surviving is one son, James Robert Moore II; four sisters, Norma J. Moore of Atlanta, Missouri, Arlene M. Sizemore of LaPlata, Missouri, Doris L. Moore of Atlanta, Missouri, and Janice E. Hopewell of LaPlata, Missouri; three nieces, Kerrie Ott, Kellie Krone, and Kristy Pezzani; three nephews, James Sizemore, Donnie Sizemore, and Ronnie Sizemore; and several great nieces and nephews, including Nathan Sizemore.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one nephew, Douglas E. Sizemore.

Jim was a 1963 graduate of Atlanta High School. He served in the United States Navy from 1963 to 1966 with time served on the U.S.S. Enterprise. In 1971 he graduated from the University of Missouri-Rolla with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics. Jim was employed with Halliburton and later Reliability Inc. of Houston, Texas before moving back to the family farm northeast of Atlanta, Missouri in 1990. He worked for Hollisters Inc. for seven years before retiring.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 17, 2010 at the Travis Funeral Chapel in LaPlata, Missouri. Officiating will be Pastor Elmer “Mac” McCully.

Burial with full military honors will be in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery, east of Atlanta, Missouri.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 17, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Travis Funeral Chapel in LaPlata, Missouri.

Memorials in memory of James Robert Moore may be made to the Mt. Tabor Cemetery. They may be sent to or left at the Travis Funeral Chapel, 125 S. Church St., LaPlata, Missouri 63549.
