Vera Mae Peavler

Vera Mae Peavler, age 77, of Elmer, Missouri, passed away Friday, March 26, 2010 at the Macon Health Care Center in Macon, Missouri.

Born July 20, 1932 in Elmer, Missouri, she was the daughter of William Earl and Goldie Evlyne (Lagle) Koger. On August 2, 1950 in Macon, Missouri she married Loren Peavler who preceded her in death on February 10, 1995.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Theodore and Paul Koger; one sister, Maxine Hoffman; and one great grandson, Brenden Lee Peavler.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Pam Peavler of New Cambria, Missouri and Alvin and Toby Peavler of LaPlata, Missouri; one sister, Arlene Peavler of Elmer, Missouri; four grandchildren, Jason and David Peavler and Marty and Courtney Peavler; six great grandchildren, Gannon and Gracie Peavler, Abbigail Pierce, Emmilie Peavler, Cheyenne Graves, and Kaylee Graves; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Vera Mae was a 1950 graduate of Elmer High School. While living in the Elmer area most all of her life, she was employed at the Florsheim Shoe Factory for twenty years retiring in 1994. She also was employed at the LaPlata Nursing Home, Toastmasters in Macon, Missouri and the Elmer Schools as a cook. She was a member of the Elmer Baptist Church. Vera Mae enjoyed gardening, baking pies and especially spending time with her family.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2010 at the Travis Funeral Chapel in LaPlata, Missouri. Officiating will be the Reverend Eugene Stueve.

Burial will be in the Bell Cemetery near Elmer, Missouri. Pallbearers will be Marty Peavler, Jason Peavler, David Peavler, Ed Peavler, Richard Koger, and Darrell Koger.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 28, 2010 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Travis Funeral Chapel, LaPlata, Missouri.

Memorials in memory of Vera Mae Peavler may be made to Bell Cemetery. They may be sent to or left at Travis Funeral Chapel, 125 S. Church St., LaPlata, Missouri.
