Ruby E Voyles

Ruby E. Voyles, age 84 of LaPlata, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at the LaPlata Nursing Home.
Born January 6, 1926 in rural Knox County near Novelty, Missouri, she was the daughter of Charles Orville and Sophia Lena (Kautz) Snow. On February 7, 1948 in Edina, Missouri, she married Loy Edward Voyles who preceded her in death on June 19, 1999.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; three brothers, Curtis, Ralph and Raymond Snow; three sisters, Velma Goodwin, Dorothy Taylor and Deloma Snow; and one grandson, David Dean Voyles.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Glenn Wood and Debra and Gary Simmons both of LaPlata, Missouri; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Cora Voyles of LaPlata, Missouri; six grandchildren, Kayla Belt, Kelcey Smith, Lynn Voyles, Lisa McHenry, Tyson Simmons and Trevor Simmons; six great-grandchildren, Makay and Baylon Belt, Weston and Logan Smith, and Gunnar and Gage McHenry; one sister, Leota Krawl of Atlanta, Missouri; two brothers, Roger and Robert Snow both of LaPlata, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
Ruby grew up on a farm in the Hazel Dell community and attended school at Hazel Dell. She worked at Wells-LaMont Glove Factory in Edina, cooked for local restaurants and worked at Hollisters in Kirksville, retiring in 1988. Ruby enjoyed quilting, playing cards, camping, gardening, cooking for her family, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 9, 2010 at the Travis Funeral Chapel in LaPlata, Missouri. Officiating will be Pastor John Gorham. Music will be provided by organist Paula Thompson and soloist Melvin Bissey.
Burial will be in the LaPlata Cemetery in LaPlata, Missouri. Pallbearers will be Ralph Smith, Matt Belt, Steven McHenry, Tom Cupp, Gene Wood, and Jerry Wood. Honorary pallbearers will be Kayla Belt, Kelcey Smith, Lisa McHenry, Mollie Simmons, Tyson Simmons, Trevor Simmons, and Lynn Voyles.
Visitation will be Friday, January 8, 2010, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Travis Funeral Chapel in LaPlata, Missouri.
